Emma started dancing in 2005, only dancing sporadically until 2009 when she became completely addicted! Since then she has gone on to be a member of all of Brisbane’s performance troupes, including teaching and choreographing for Balboa performance troupes, teaching Lindy Hop, Balboa, Charleston, and Solo Vernacular Jazz in Brisbane, and travelled around Australia, New Zealand and the US for dance events.
Recent competition highlights have included placing 1st in the Australian Balboa Championship in 2017 and 2015, 1st in the Balboa Showdown at All the Cats Join In (Melbourne, 2017 & 2018), 1st in the Windy Lindy Balboa competition (New Zealand, 2015), and being a semi-finalist in the Australian Hellzapoppin’ competition 2014, all with her partner Rob Edwards. Emma has five times been a participant at The Balboa Experiment in the United States, the world’s most exclusive and personally challenging Balboa workshop.
Emma is looking forward to continuing to expand the Brisbane Balboa scene by working on her own Balboa technique and teaching skills, and continuing to promote Balboa community events.
